Rutshellir, Iceland

A prominent feature of Icelandic culture, elves and their myth are scattered around this island. Even in places without specific legends surrounding them, a nearby other-world seems to span the landmass in every corner. For locals, who are born into a culture ingrained in tales about Hidden People, and for foreigners, who see the unfamiliar tiny cave dwellings as a portal, it is easy to see how this island that feels so extraterrestrial has cultivated and sustained these magical beliefs for so long. Many have travelled to Iceland in hopes of finding the creatures. Whether real or not real, it seems to be a place that holds more magic than most.
