I was recently told that I've lived through two of the largest wars in the last 20 years.
People like to pretend that bad things didn't use to happen, and that only now do we see the worst of it all.
But we've been through slavery and oppression, concentration camps and genocide.
We like to compare things because if we've been through something worse before, it gives us courage to move forward.
And if this is worse than it's ever been, maybe our voices will be heard.
But it's all bad.
I'm proud of us for standing up and being loud and speaking out against injustice
But the truth is, the world is too big and people are too flawed and conflict will never completely cease.
There will always be another war.
The silver lining of it all is seeing the relentless pursuit of humanity to come together in the midst of it.
Protecting those who need it,
Sharing resources and hope—
The reaching out of hands.
Maybe this will bring a bit of heaven home.
